The action got under way at 2 pm. with well known local bands on an outside stage. Chilled sets from Nightshift, Saffron Summerfield, Louis Turpin and Claire Hamill. Music was performed in ‘lazy summer’ vibe and was appreciated by an ever growing audience. The whole event was family-friendly. Food (vegetarian and BBQ) and drink were available from the food stall and licensed bar. Craft stalls, bouncy castle, tombola and other attractions supplemented the music. The sun shone kindly on the event and by five o’clock there were about 300 persons present to greet The Mayor of Rye, Councillor Paul Osborne who introduced BBC Weather Girl Kaddy Lee-Preston. Kaddy, who did not charge for her attendance, is no stranger to charity events having cycled over 500km across the Andes, climbing a total of 28,000ft on her bike and later across Mexico from the Atlantic to Pacific coast (both for Macmillan Cancer Relief).

Kaddy opened the evening session when the music moved inside for energetic rocking blues. Nana Tsiboe, Gigspanner, Buick 6, The Dawgs and Pass The Cat had the big hall rockin”, the show went on till midnight and by any standard, was a roaring success.
