This year the Carnival, on Saturday 9 August, will revert to the old – Rock-a-nore, seafront, round the fountain, back along the seafront, up High Street, across The Bourne, down All Saints Street and back to Rock-a-nore. It will start at 6pm.

The Hastings Old Town Carnival has been in existence since 1968. In those days Hastings and St Leonards had their own carnival which missed out the Old Town Old Towners decided to have their own, better, carnival. As time went by the Old Town event got better and better and the other one, sadly, fizzled out. As a parting gift they gave the Old Town Carnival the right to the title “Miss Hastings” ever since the Old Town Carnival Queen is also Miss Hastings.

Hastings Old Town Carnival is run by an unpaid band of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who welcome new members. – you don’t have to join at the AGM, just e-mail [email protected] for details.
