Monsoon Weather at Rye Horse Show

Very Wet at 1970 Rye Horse Show

Rye Horse Show

The 1970 Rye Horse show, held at Gateborough Farm on Saturday 22nd August, was hit by monsoon weather.

Very soft going made it difficult for horses to find a grip on take-off and resulted in many refusals and several falls.

Torrential rain for three solid hours all but washed out the event, but the enthusiasm of the organisers and a break in the weather at 2 p.m. saved the day. The greater part of the scheduled events were held.
