Athletic Star off to Ulster
Popular 20 year old Tony Edwards. (Herbie to his many friends) recently passed out as a Marine Commando and received his Green Beret.
Tony’s Passing-out Parade at Lymstone, Devon, was attended by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Edwards of 38 Lea Avenue.
‘Herbie’ who played soccer for Rye Athletic F C before joining the Marines at the beginning of the year, will serve with 40 commando in Northern Ireland.
Later he hopes to go to South America with the unit.
