Championship “25”

The Club Championship 25 Mile Time Trial took place in corporation with the V.T.T.A event based on Brookland on Sunday 7 September.

Barry Goodsell won the event with a fine ride of 1 hour 6 minutes and 21 seconds adding the 2003 25 mile Championship to the 10 Championship he won back in May.

Work commitments and the wonderful British Postal sevice prevented four of the Club’s best riders from taking part and resulted in Jim Hollands being placed second in 1-20-12, more than ten minutes slower than he had ridden to win the event 46 years ago! Granville Bantick was third in 1-23-36.

This was the last event of the season for most of the Rye riders but Granville Bantick will be competing in a Triathalon at Sevenoaks next weekend.

Club Runs

Club runs take on a very important part of the life of a cycling club during the autumn and winter months. There will be runs every Sunday morning and the Wednesday runs, starting outside the Rye’s Own office at 1.30pm., will be taking shorter routes for the riders who do not wish to go too far. The Club Dinner The Wheeler’s Dinner and Prize Presentation will be held at the Riverside Restaurant at the Riverhaven Hotel on Thursday 20 November. All past and present members and other friends of the Club are invited. Contact Jim  or Gary  for details of prices and tickets.
