“Rye’s Own” is 50

“Rodney Booth was still a Boy”

Fifty years ago, when Rodney Booth was still a boy, the very first issue of “Rye’s Own” was delivered to all Rye newsagents.

It was an immediate success and now, fifty years later, “The Little Magazine with the Big Heart” as Cannon John Williams called it, will still be on sale at Rye Newsagents.

There is a bonus for all who buy a copy of the Fiftieth Anniversary issue. They will be able to get an electronic copy of that very first issue free to their computer, Included in it is a picture of young Rodney Booth and many other Rye faces that older readers will remember.

Who lit the Bonfire in 1965? A very famous TV personality of the time. Of course this ladies’ name is not mentioned, as the magazine went on sale before the 5th, and Rye Fawkes name was a closely guarded secret. Another free electronic copy of the December 1965 will be available FREE in the Christmas 2015 publication and has a picture of the  soap star and the secret will be out.
