Witnesses sought to knife-point robbery in Rye

09 March 2016

Police are appealing for witnesses after approximately £3,000 was stolen from a leisure park in Rye.

At 11.20pm on Tuesday (8 March), officers were called to Frenchman’s Beach Holiday Park, in Harbour Road, following a report of a knifepoint robbery.

The caller stated he had been cashing up in the bar area at about 10.30pm when he became aware of a strange noise coming from the freezer room.

Upon entering the freezer room, he was approached by two men, one of whom held him up against the door and demanded money.

The victim claims he was then sprayed in the face with an unknown substance, struck on the arm with a bottle which smashed, and hit over the head with a pint glass which also smashed.

A dog unit attended but officers were unable to trace the suspects.

They are both described as men dressed in white overalls, with off-white latex gloves, and wearing white Venetian masks with black lips. One of the men was carrying a knife.
