Detectives continue to investigate the death of the man in St Leonards

 

Detectives continue to investigate the death of a man at a block of flats in St Leonards.

Emergency services were called to Marine Court on Marina in St Leonards at around 9am on Monday (March 13) to a report a man had fallen from a flat. A 93-year-old man was sadly declared dead at the scene. His death is being treated as unexplained at this stage and one man, a 54-year-old from St Leonards, who is known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been bailed until May 10 while the investigation continues.

The post mortem is due to take place on Wednesday (March 15).

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Ashcroft said: “We have been in touch with the 93-year-old’s family and are providing them with support during this time. We are working to establish which floor he fell from and the events leading up to his death. The suspect and victim are known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else. At this time we are treating his death as unexplained.
