AV Toddlers jazz up their parents’Jim-Jams for Pilgrims Hospices Pyjama Walk

Children from the AV Toddler Group spent a happy morning decorating tee shirts for their parents to wear at the Pilgrims Hospice Pyjama Walk on Saturday 27th June 2015.

The theme of year’s Pyjama Walk is to Jazz up your Jim-Jams and the toddlers took to this with a relish. With stick on diamantes and brightly coloured paints they created some fabulous tee shirts for their parents to wear on the night with their pyjamas.

Faye Cotterell, one of the toddler group leaders explained: “We all know someone who has been touched by the amazing work Pilgrims Hospices does. As a group we decided to take part in the Pyjama walk, although we will be leaving the children behind. However we wanted to get them involved in the event even at this early age, so we decided that getting them to jazz up our pyjamas was just a perfect way of doing so.”

Pam Meller, interim community fundraising manager who went along on the morning said: “It was brilliant seeing them all having fun. What a great way to get the children involved.

“The Pyjama Walk is such a fabulous community family event and we would like to see more people than ever sign up for the walk this year. If we can achieve 1,500 walkers and each person manages to raise sponsorship of £20 we could potentially provide 2,500 hours of nursing care.

“Each year Pilgrims Hospices gives care and comfort to over 2,300 people in east Kent coming to terms with an illness which sadly cannot be cured. We support our patients to live life as well as possible until the very end; free from pain and distress.

“Care is provided from our three hospice sites in Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet as well as in patients’ own homes. To offer these services to patients and their families the charity must raise £11 million per year from the generous local community.”

Online registration for Pilgrims Hospices Pyjama Walk is now open and you can sign up at www.pilgrimshospices.org and click on the Pyjama man button or ring the Ashford Fundraising Office 01233 504111.

The Walk will begin and end at the Designer Outlet with the fun starting at 8.30pm, with the walk commencing at 10.00pm

The AV Toddler Group meets alternate Tuesdays at Stanhope Parish Hall from 9.30 – 11 pm. The next meeting is Tuesday 2nd June. New members are welcome.
