Rye Community Fire Station needs you!

Rye Community Fire Station is looking for new on call retained firefighters and is opening it’s doors to anyone interested in becoming part of the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service team.

Live or work in Rye?

The station is recruiting on call retained firefighters.  You will need to live or work within five minutes of the station so you can respond to an alert in a timely manner.

An open evening is being held between 6.00pm until 8.30pm on the 18 April 2018 at the station on Ferry Road, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7DJ.There will be a chance to find out if you have what it takes to be an on-call firefighter and visitors will be able to try out some of the duties and tasks which firefighters regularly undertake including dummy drag, ladder climbing and other physical tasks. Cyclist injured at Stones Cross

Police and Ambulance Praised for Swift Response

A cyclist was injured in an accident at Stonescross on the Aldington / Ham Street Road this morning.

He was concious and sitting up in the pictures from the accident scene, and treated on the spot before being taken to hospital in an ambulance.

New Year St Leonards Death Suspected to be Murder

Five Men Arrested

Reports have been coming in of the arrest of five men in St Leonards on suspicion of murder. Reports claim that a man fell through a utility room ceiling in a block of flats in Charles Road in the early hours of New Year’s Day

A Sussex Police spokesman said:

“The man had apparently fallen from a flat above and despite efforts to resuscitate him was pronounced dead at the scene. Five people from a flat in the building were arrested on suspicion of murder and inquiries into the death were continuing”. RNLI Fish Supper on Sunday 16th October

After the tragic events which occurred off Camber this recent summer, The Gallivant will be hosting a delicious Fish Supper on Sunday 16th October from 6pm, in support of this country’s extraordinary public services, the RNLI, who are dedicated to saving lives at sea around the coasts of Britain and Ireland.

Two more bodies have been recovered from the sea at Camber Sands this evening (Wednesday 24 August).

Immigration officials questioned twenty people, including two children, rescued from an inflatable boat off the Kent coast on Sunday 29 May.

Firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle on fire on the driveway of a property in High Street, Lydd.
